Bus

There are thousands of Yangon city buses. No need to wait for a long time to get one. Most are good air-conditioned buses with fixed price. As local people mainly use the bus for transportation, they are usually crowded in the rush hour. City transit buses are also available now, so it’s convenient for getting around Yangon.

Trishaw

Trishaws are another available approach to cover short distances in the downtown area, but this is really not a very comfortable way. You can find them mostly around markets, near train stations, beside bus-stop, and also at points along main roads. Trishaw passengers have to ride back to back and the driver will ask fair charges.

Walking

If you annoy traffic congestion, walking around Yangon will be a fun way for you. It is better if your hotel or accommodation is near the downtown area and some attractive places. With the help of a Google Map, you can steadily see and study locals and their behaviors and tradition. If you take it easy, you’ll be able to walk to many places.

Train

Yangon has a circular railway system which has 28.5-mile (45.9-kilometer) with 39 stations. As it connects Yangon’s downtown areas and the suburban areas, you can get the authentic experience of the city and its suburbs and also a unique insight into the daily life of locals within three hours of the full circle.

Boat & Water Bus

Yangon is now available to catch boats and water buses in order to get around Yangon. This system runs between Botahtaung jetty and Hlaing Thar Yar in the west of Yangon at every 20 minutes, with six stops along the way. In the future, more routes and stops will be arranged. They run between 6am and 6.30pm, and the price is pretty fair. You will enjoy the river ride!

Private Car with Guide

Yangon has a warm weather condition. Hence, taking a private car with guide is the most comfortable way to explore Yangon. You can easily hire an air-conditioned car with dependable and courteous driver and English-speaking guide too. The guide is usually well informed, friendly, and enthusiastic about sharing their culture and way of life with you as well as takes care of everything for you.
